Strut Pipe & Conduit Clamps

A strut pipe clamp is a two-piece clamp that bolts into strut channel to support pipe, conduit, or tube along a run. Eugene Fastener & Supply stocks the complete line: universal clamps that fit both EMT and rigid, dedicated EMT clamps, rigid conduit clamps, OD clamps sized to the exact outside diameter, and copper-plated clamps for copper tube. Sizes run from 1/4" through 12", in electro-galvanized zinc, stainless, and aluminum.

These clamps fit Unistrut and other standard 1-5/8" strut systems, so a competitor part number almost always has an EFS equivalent. For vibration-isolating clamps, see our cushion clamps. Buy by the piece or the carton, with same-day shipping on orders placed before 2pm Pacific.

What Is a Strut Pipe Clamp?

A strut pipe clamp is a two-part clamp that bolts into the channel of strut and wraps a pipe, conduit, or tube to hold it along a support run. One half seats in the strut with a channel nut; the other half closes over the pipe and bolts down. The right clamp is sized to the exact pipe so it holds securely without crushing or rattling.

Which Clamp Type Do I Need?

Pipe and conduit are measured differently, so the clamp type must match how your pipe is sized.

Clamp TypeUse ForSized By
Universal ClampEMT or rigid conduit (works for both)Trade size. For the best fit, specify EMT or rigid.
EMT ClampEMT (thin-wall) conduit onlyEMT trade size
Rigid ClampRigid / IMC steel conduit and steel pipeRigid trade size
OD ClampAny pipe or tube by exact outside diameterMeasured outside diameter
Copper Tube ClampCopper tube (copper-plated to prevent galvanic corrosion)Copper tube size

Tip: a universal clamp fits both EMT and rigid, but for the tightest fit, order the clamp that matches your conduit type. When in doubt, measure the actual outside diameter and use an OD clamp.

Finishes

  • Electro-galvanized zinc (standard): interior and dry runs.
  • Stainless steel: wet, washdown, coastal, and corrosive environments.
  • Aluminum: lighter weight, corrosion resistant.
  • Copper-plated: for copper tube, to prevent galvanic corrosion.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an EMT clamp and a rigid clamp?

EMT (thin-wall conduit) and rigid (heavy-wall conduit and steel pipe) have different outside diameters at the same trade size, so the clamps differ. An EMT clamp is sized to EMT; a rigid clamp is sized to rigid/IMC. A universal clamp is built to fit both, but for the tightest hold, use the clamp that matches your conduit type.

Can a universal strut clamp be used for both EMT and rigid?

Yes. The universal clamp is designed to fit both EMT and rigid conduit at a given trade size. It is the convenient single-SKU option. If you need the most precise fit, for example to prevent any movement, order the dedicated EMT or rigid clamp.

How do I size a strut pipe clamp?

Match the clamp to how your pipe is measured. For EMT and rigid conduit, use the trade size with the matching clamp type. For pipe or tube specified by outside diameter, measure the actual OD and use an OD clamp. For copper tube, use a copper tube clamp by copper size. When unsure, measure the outside diameter and order an OD clamp.

What is an OD clamp?

An OD clamp is sized to the exact measured outside diameter of a pipe or tube rather than a trade size. It is the right choice when your pipe is not standard conduit, or when you want to be certain of the fit. We stock OD clamps in fine increments from 1/4 inch up.

Do you have clamps for copper tube?

Yes. Copper tube clamps are copper-plated so the clamp and the copper tube will not set up galvanic corrosion where they touch. Order by copper tube size.

Do these clamps fit Unistrut?

Yes. Our pipe and conduit clamps cross-reference to Unistrut and other standard 1-5/8 inch strut systems. For example our 1/2 inch rigid clamp matches Unistrut P1111. See the cross-reference table above.
