What Is Strut Channel?
Strut channel (often called by the brand name Unistrut) is a standardized C-shaped metal framing channel with an open, lipped slot down one face. Channel nuts slide into the slot and lock with a quarter turn, so you can bolt fittings, clamps, brackets, and supports anywhere along the run without drilling or welding. It is the backbone of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical support across construction and industry. The common profile is 1-5/8" wide; it also comes shallow (13/16") and deep (3-1/4"), in steel and aluminum, plain or finished.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is strut channel the same as Unistrut?
Unistrut is a brand of strut channel, the original and most recognized one, so the name is often used generically the way people say "Kleenex" for tissue. Strut channel from any reputable maker built to the common 1-5/8 inch profile is dimensionally compatible, meaning nuts, fittings, and clamps interchange across brands. Our line fits Unistrut and other standard systems.
Do strut accessories from different brands work together?
Yes, as long as they share the standard 1-5/8 inch profile. A channel nut, clamp, or fitting from one brand fits another brand's channel of the same size. That is why a cross-reference is so useful: if you have a Unistrut, B-Line, or PowerStrut part number, we can supply the matching part. See our cross-reference guide.
What can I build with strut?
Strut is used for pipe and conduit support, cable tray and HVAC hangers, equipment racks and stands, machine guards, sign and antenna mounts, shelving, sliding-door tracks, and free-standing framing. Because it bolts together with channel nuts, you assemble and modify structures without welding.
What finishes does strut come in?
Electro-galvanized zinc for interior and dry use, hot-dip galvanized for exterior and higher corrosion resistance, 316 stainless for wet, coastal, and chemical environments, and aluminum for light weight and corrosion resistance. See our finishes guide to choose.
