Strut Brackets & Braces

Strut brackets and braces turn a length of strut into a shelf, a support arm, or a rigid braced frame. Eugene Fastener & Supply stocks the full line: heavy-duty shelf brackets, 12-gauge slotted shelf brackets in left and right hand, flat channel braces, round diagonal tubing braces, and adjustable single- and double-channel braces. Lengths run from 6" shelf brackets up to 72" diagonal braces, in electro-galvanized zinc with stainless and hot-dip available.

These brackets and braces fit Unistrut and other standard 1-5/8" strut systems, so a competitor part number almost always has an EFS equivalent. To anchor a strut post to the floor or wall, see our post bases. Buy by the piece or the carton, with same-day shipping on orders placed before 2pm Pacific.

Brackets vs Braces — What's the Difference?

A bracket projects out from the strut to carry a load, like a shelf arm or a cantilever support. A brace ties two members together at an angle to stiffen a frame and resist racking. Most strut structures use both: brackets to hold what you are mounting, braces to keep the frame square under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a strut bracket and a strut brace?

A bracket projects out from the strut to carry a load, like a shelf arm or cantilever support. A brace ties two members together at an angle to stiffen a frame and resist racking. Brackets hold what you are mounting; braces keep the frame square under load. Most strut structures use both.

What length shelf bracket do I need?

Choose a bracket at least as long as the depth of the shelf or equipment it carries, so the load is supported near its outer edge. Our heavy-duty shelf brackets run from 8-1/2 inch to 20-1/2 inch; the 12-gauge slotted brackets extend further. For heavier or deeper loads, step up to a longer heavy-duty bracket and confirm the load against the published capacity.

What does left-hand and right-hand mean on shelf brackets?

The 12-gauge slotted shelf brackets are made as mirror-image pairs. Left-hand and right-hand refer to which side of the upright the bracket mounts on, so a typical shelf uses one of each. Order them in pairs unless you specifically need all one hand.

Do I need braces on a strut frame?

If the frame carries load or stands tall, yes. Without diagonal bracing a rectangular strut frame can rack (lean) under side load. A flat channel brace or round diagonal brace across the frame triangulates it and dramatically increases rigidity. Adjustable braces let you set the angle in the field.

Do these brackets fit Unistrut?

Yes. Our brackets and braces cross-reference to Unistrut and other standard 1-5/8 inch strut systems. For example our 8-1/2 inch heavy-duty shelf bracket matches Unistrut P1769. See the cross-reference table above.

How do I anchor a strut post to the floor?

Use a strut post base. It bolts to the floor or wall and accepts the end of a strut channel to stand a post up squarely. See our post bases for single- and double-channel options.
